OHDSI Spain – National Node
Local Collaboration. European Impact.
The OHDSI Spanish Node is one of the largest national communities in Europe. It brings together Spanish data partners, healthcare institutions, researchers, universities, public bodies, and SMEs working with the OMOP CDM and the OHDSI open-science ecosystem. Its aim is to strengthen national capacity to generate high-quality real-world evidence, share expertise across organizations, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration in the secondary use of health data.
Within Spain, the Node plays a strategic role by linking local initiatives with the broader national effort to improve health data reuse and interoperability. It is well aligned with the development of the Spanish Espacio de Datos de Salud, which seeks to enable secure and well-governed access to health data. In this context, the OHDSI Spanish Node helps build community, skills, and methodological consistency across participating institutions.
At the European level, the OHDSI Spanish Node acts as a bridge between national stakeholders and the wider OHDSI Europe community. By promoting OMOP-based harmonization, federated collaboration, and shared analytical standards, the Spanish Node supports Spain’s active contribution to the European real-world data and evidence landscape.
