Welcome to OHDSI Europe!

The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (or OHDSI, pronounced "Odyssey") program is a multi-stakeholder, interdisciplinary collaborative to bring out the value of health data through large-scale analytics. OHDSI aims to generate accurate, reproducible, and well-calibrated evidence and promote better health decisions and better care.

All our solutions are open-source. OHDSI has established an global network of researchers and observational health databases with a central coordinating center housed at Columbia University, see

OHDSI Europe is led by the coordinating center embedded in the Health Data Science Group of the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. We like to build a strong European OHDSI community that actively contributes to the further extension of the OMOP-CDM and analytical tool development.

The first annual European symposium 'Bridging Europe' took place March 23th and 24th 2018. After that the second symposium entitled 'The Journey from Data to Evidence' took place March 29th 2019 in Rotterdam.

In 2020 the third symposium would have been at Oxford University but this meeting was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Fortunately, we were able to meet again after 3 years in 2022. The symposium was titled 'We'll meet again for one journey ahead!' and took place on the June 24th 2022 in Rotterdam.

The following symposium "Full Steam Ahead" took place on the 3rd of July, 2023 (with workshops and groups on the 1st/2nd), also in Rotterdam.

The latest symposium was held in Rotterdam on June 3rd, 2024, titled "Scaling up Reliable Evidence across Europe".

The European Health Data and Evidence network project (EHDEN) under the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) drives the adoption of the OMOP-CDM in Europe in close collaboration with OHDSI. Through open calls Data Partners can receive funding to map their data to the OMOP-CDM. Furthermore. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are being trained and certified to provide services to the eco-system.

For more information about the EHDEN project and the open calls see:

We are in a "perfect storm" for the adoption of the OMOP-CDM in Europe. There is large interest from data custodians, regulators, academia, EFPIA, patient organizations to collaborate on the implementation of the OMOP-CDM and a federated data network in Europe. Join our journey!! For more information use our contact form.

OHDSI Community Calls

We highly recommend to join the OHDSI Community Calls every Tuesday at 17:00 CET in the OHDSI MSTeams. These calls are meant to inform and engage our community through a variety of call formats, including community presentations, working group updates, breakout sessions, focus topics, newcomer-focused sessions, and more. The upcoming schedule is available at the OHDSI Website
