Welcome to OHDSI Europe!

The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (or OHDSI, pronounced "Odyssey") program is a multi-stakeholder, interdisciplinary collaborative to bring out the value of health data through large-scale analytics. OHDSI aims to generate accurate, reproducible, and well-calibrated evidence and promote better health decisions and better care.

All our solutions are open-source. OHDSI has established an global network of researchers and observational health databases with a central coordinating center housed at Columbia University, see www.ohdsi.org.

OHDSI Europe is led by the coordinating center at the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam. We like to build a strong European OHDSI community that actively contributes to the further extension of the OMOP-CDM and analytical tool development.

The first annual European symposium 'Bridging Europe' took place March 23th and 24th 2018. Aftert that the second symposium entitled 'The Journey from Data to Evidence' took place March 29th 2019 in Rotterdam.

The third symposium will take place from the 27th till 29th of March at Oxford University. The main sympsosium will take place on March 28th and the the day before and after will contain tutorials. More information will be available soon.

In November 2018 the European Health Data and Evidence network project (EHDEN) was started under the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) that will further drive the adoption of the OMOP-CDM in Europe. Through open calls Data Partners can receive funding to map their data to the OMOP-CDM. Furthermore. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are being trained and certified to provide services to the eco-system.

For more information about the exciting EHDEN project see: www.ehden.eu

We are in a "perfect storm" for the adoption of the OMOP-CDM in Europe. There is large interest from data custodians, regulators, academia, EFPIA, patient organizations to collaborate on the implementation of the OMOP-CDM and a federated data network in Europe.
